During the 1978-79 academic year, two students at Mt. Union College, Mike Alexander and David Sufficol, discovered that a “National Christian Service Fraternity” once existed at Mt. Union College. Through the efforts of those two men and several other men who were interested in forming a Christian Brotherhood, a club was established at Mt. Union College with the help of the Brothers at Epsilon Chapter. The club was activated on April 27,1980 in the Union Avenue United Methodist Church, with Mike Alexander as the founding president.

From the beginning, service has been the major emphasis of Delta Chapter, but the social and religious aspects have also been considered a very important part of the fraternity. Delta Chapter has aimed at being a supplemental part of the Christian community at Mt. Union College. Thus far, Delta Chapter has succeeded in that role.

The chapter’s membership nearly dissolved in 1988, thus the chapter nearly disappeared again. The National Conclave of Chapters voted to allow it five years, until December 31, 1993, to form a Temporary Club or Chapter in order to retain its charter. In 1993, Tim Markle, an Epsilon Chapter alum who was employed with Mt. Union College, assumed the role of Pledgemaster for 11 men who sought to rejuvenate the Delta Chapter once again. With God’s help, they were activated in December 1993, with James Howald serving as president.
